Ten Chester Grade School students have been recognized as the Students of the Month for January 2019, all nominated by the CGS teachers and staff. The winning students are Alekzander Jarret, prekindergarten; Maggie Stueve, kindergarten; Aubree Creekmore, first grade; Larne Luchavez, second grade; Reed Fricke, third grade; Anthony Armenta, fourth grade; Trayton Peters, fifth grade; Sadie Sellers, sixth grade; Chloe Miller, 7th grade; and Jacob Cotner, eighth grade.

Chester Lady Jackets lose heartbreaker to end solid season
Before the game, Chester Coach Pat Knowles predicted a "great and competitive game," and he got every bit of that. The Chester Lady Jackets gave it their all, but Pinckneyville bested them 45-41 in the Class 2A regional semi-final on Feb. 5, to end the season.
