Extra benefits: Insurance and free admission

Superintendent Kirk Abernathy has announced the board approved the district providing everyone's accident insurance. Students will covered from the time they leave home to attend school until they return home from school.

"I just thought it was time the school started giving back to the community. At this time we have people strapped for money and this is something we can provide," Abernathy said.

Students do not have to register for the program. Abernathy said following the Aug. 6, Aug. 7 and Aug. 8 registration, he will send the list of enrolled students to the insurance company.

The insurance is a supplemental health insurance that covers athletic injuries and any injuries incurred on the grounds or on the way to or from school.

"This supplements the primary coverage the parents might have," Abernathy said.

Abernathy announced another gift to students, this one in the interest of providing positive recreation with no money involved. There will be no admission charge to Galatia students and pupils for attending home ball games this year.
