Perry County Sheriff's office gets grant for in-car video system
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis announced today that the Sheriff's Office has received a state grant from the Illinois Law enforcement Training Standards Board in the amount of $42,800 to purchase in-car video cameras and to train the deputies to use them. Camera systems have arrived and are due to be installed by the end of June. Bareis said he is excited to be chosen to be a recipient of the grant and the new technology that it will bring to his department. The new equipment will record all traffic stops and other incidents where a deputy chooses to turn the recording unit on to protect himself from false accusations or physical harm.
