Marion Chamber announces finalists for business award
Three area businesses have been selected as finalists for the Marion Chamber of Commerce's Distinguished Business Award, to be awarded Jan. 18 at the 98th Awards Banquet and Auction. Members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce were asked to submit nominations in November for the Distinguished Business Award. Nominations were sought for Chamber member businesses that have made significant contributions to the community. The Distinguished Business Award finalists and winner were selected by the members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce Awards Committee.

Marshall Browning Hospital announces podiatry services
DU QUOIN -- Patients of Marshall Browning Hospital's podiatry clinic will see new changes and additional services. David Dickinson, DPM, longtime podiatrist in the hospital's podiatry clinic, will now see patients on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with appointments until 7 p.m., as well as every other Saturday. Dickinson will move his clinic from the hospital's specialty clinic to the hospital's rural health clinic, Marshall Browning Medical Clinic, located at 900 N. Washington St., Du Quoin (across the street from the hospital).

MARION -- The owner of a new Marion toy store hopes its uniqueness will draw regular visits from Southern Illinoisans this holiday season and beyond. Brandon Chaplain said Jack & Josie's, located in the Town and Country Shopping Center at 1105 N, Carbon St., is more than just toys.

WPS adding upward of 100 jobs in West Frankfort
MADISON, WIS.-- WPS Health Solutions plans to fill upward of 100 more claims processing and management positions in West Frankfort, because of the company's new expanded role in supporting TriWest Healthcare Alliance as it administers two programs for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Earlier in November, the company announced it also is adding positions in Wausau, Wis., for this new expanded role in VA claims processing.

Carbondale Chamber seeking nominees for annual awards
The Carbondale Chamber of Commerce again will recognize excellence with a series of annual awards during its 102nd-annual banquet Feb. 15, 2019. Nominations for these awards are accepted from Chamber members and the community. Nominations are due by noon Wednesday Dec. 17.

Marshall Browning Hospital adds five new providers
DU QUOIN -- Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin announced this week the addition of five new providers to its medical staff and medical clinics beginning in January 2019. "We are continually making efforts to ensure our community has access to the types of healthcare providers and services they need," said Dan Eaves, CEO. "Our efforts have focused on access to primary care and reducing wait time for patients needing to see a provider. Following Dr. Gladstone Tucker's transition to a full-time nursing home practice along with the retirement of Dr. Craig Furry, it became critical that we recruit additional providers to the community.

Pinckneyville Community Hospital hires new quality, risk director
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Pinckneyville Community Hospital announced Monday that Angie Oathout has been named Director of Quality and Risk Management. Oathout is no stranger to the Quality and Risk Management at Pinckneyville Community Hospital, as she was employed as the coordinator from 2010-2012.
