SWIMMING: 3 Dolphins win High Point Awards at SSC Championships

Pinckneyville's Ava Adcock (girls 8 & under), Karsen Konkel (boys 9-10) and Savannah Cheek (girls 15-18) each brought home the High Point Award for their age group at Saturday's Shawnee Swim Conference Championships in Carlyle, where the Dolphins placed fourth amongst the six teams competing with 224.5 points.

Carlyle won the meet with 354 points, followed by Nashville (270.5) and Millstadt (268).

A. Adcock won all three of her races - backstroke, butterfly and freestyle - as did Cheek (individual medley, backstroke, butterfly) and Konkel (IM, butterfly, freestyle).

Dolphins Landen Carter (2nd, boys 8 & under), Steven Hirte (2nd, boys 11-12) and Nile Adcock (3rd, boys 11-12) also placed in the top three of the individual point standings at the end of the meet. Carter was a winner in the butterfly, Hirte took first in the freestyle and the breaststroke.

A. Adcock, Konkel, Cheek, Carter and Hirte accounted for all twelve of Pinckneyville's wins at the SSC Championships meet. No relay teams were victorious for the Dolphins, but seven of them placed second.
