Lombard astronaut's mother killed by train

<span style="" class="cbstv_attribution"> </span> The 90-year-old mother Lombard astronaut Daniel Tani, Rose Tani, was struck and killed by a freight train while attempting to drive around railroad crossing gates Wednesday afternoon in Lombard.

According to reports, the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. on the train tracks near Elizabeth Street and Parkside Avenue.

Daniel Tani is currently aboard the International Space Station on a mission that began in late October.
