Figure skating welcomes many new faces to Olympics

The first figure skating event of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, starts next week, welcoming a host of fresh faces to the games.

Men and women will spin, jump and glide their way across the skating rink in pairs, individual and ice dance events at the Iceberg Skating Palace.

For pairs, Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir will represent Team USA in their first Olympics, while for the pair Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay it will be their first Olympics.

All three female individual skaters, Gracie Gold, Ashley Wagner and Polina Edmunds will participate in the games for the first time as well.

Jeremy Abbott's is representing USA in the men's individual event for the second time, while Jason Brown is new to the games.

In the ice dance events, Meryl Davis and former hockey player Charlie White are returning for their second games, and Madison Chock is returning accompanied by first-timer Evan Bates.
