Benton handles Harrisburg on Senior Night

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Justin Waide, who was the only Harrisburg senior to wrestle on Tuesday, made the most of his final match at Bonnell Gymnasium.

Waide pinned Benton's Justin Bennett in one of the two match wins for the Harrisburg High School wrestling team, which fell to Benton 71-12. Joyce Luna, Caden Drue and Jimmy Sherrod were seniors that did not participate in Tuesday's action.

"I've enjoyed all four of those kids. It's been a pleasure having them on the team," head coach Greg Langley said. "It's always nice having four good seniors who are good people as well as good students."

The Bulldogs (11-5) picked up another victory when Nathan Reeder pinned J.R. Mocaby in one of the most competitive matches of the evening.

However, it was the Rangers who would be dominant, winning in every other weight class.

Langley said Harrisburg's grapplers put forth a strong effort, even though the team was not as aggressive as it had been in recent matches.

"At times we seemed to be a little bit more on our heels. We hadn't been as aggressive as we had been going along the way," Langley explained. "The kids know Benton is a talented bunch. Kids that are ranked in the state and kids that will be regional champions. Sometimes, we end up psyching ourselves before the match starts."

The long-time Bulldog head coach said it was not the primary reason for the team's defeat and hopes the team can learn to block out that kind of mental aspect.

Harrisburg's junior varsity team picked up a 30-15 win against Benton to salvage Tuesday's action.
