Pinckneyville lights first community Christmas tree
Pinckneyville celebrated the start of a new tradition on Thursday -- the lighting of a community Christmas tree. Through the combined efforts of the Foundation for Pinckneyville and the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce and its many businesses, the tree became an official part of the chamber's Crackling Christmas kickoff to the Christmas shopping season.

Knights of Columbus donate to Five Star Industries
In September the Du Quoin Council of the Knights of Columbus brought in $1,530 from the annual Tootsie Roll Drive fundraiser. The proceeds from the drive are being equally distributed between two local agencies, Special Olympics of Southern Illinois and the Wishing Well Fund of Five Star Industries.
