Wildcats roar way past NCOE; Pope County girls lose in sectional

Gabe Morgan scored 19 points as Carrier Mills went on to blow out NCOE 80-36 in boys' prep basketball action Tuesday night.

Cameron Taborn scored 16 for the Wildcats, who improved to 16-9 on the season.

Collin Crim tacked on 12 points, while Jordan Walker had 11 to round out those in double digit scoring.

Slayden Figg scored seven points, while Josh Bailey had five points. Dathan Taborn finished with four points, while Dalton Summers, Darrin Betz and Whitining all had two points.

Carrier Mills jumped out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter and led 40-11 at the break.

GIRLS: Christ Our Rock 51, Pope County 32
Christ Our Rock Lutheran of Centralia advanced to Thursday's finals at the Gallatin County 1A girls basketball sectional with 51-32 win over Pope County Tuesday night.

Pope County trailed just 19-17 at halftime, but was outscored 14-4 in the third period. Freshman Emily Powles led the Lady Pirates with nine points.

Pope finishes the season at 18-14, while the Silver Stallions will take on Goreville in the round of 16.
