PREP BOYS HOOPS: Carrier Mills, Pope County posts first round regional wins

 Fifth seed Pope County upset host Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, 51-41, in the opening round of the NCOE 1A boys basketball regional Monday night. Junior Tyler Thompson had 21 points off the bench for the Pirates (11-16) who advanced to play top-seed Gallatin County in Wednesday's first semifinal at 6 p.m.
NCOE (10-16) was led by sophomore Cole Tucker who dropped in 17 points off the bench. Neither team had a senior on its roster.

Hunt signs scholarship papers with SIC to play softball

Harrisburg High School senior, Marriah Hunt, signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg on a full scholarship Friday.  SIC, an NJCAA Division 1 softball program, is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
