Massac rallies to beat Bulldogs

The Harrisburg soccer team got a goal from Jack Winters off an assist from Nolan Bebout, but Massac County took a 2-1 match late last week at Micheal Herrin Field.

Harrisburg looked good in the early going, out shooting Massac County 7-1 and held possession of the ball for much of the first half.

In the second half, the Patriots got an early goal before Winters put in the equalizer, but MCHS took advantage of a yellow card via Harrisburg and put in the game winning goal with five minutes to play.

"I am really proud at how our boys are coming together as a team" said Harrisburg head coach coach Jared Butler. "The boys' confidence has grown so much just over the past couple of days and you can see that on the field by how well they share the ball with each other and support each other" Butler said. Anyone who was at this game knows we held our own and had far more opportunities than our opponents that just didn't go in, and for that we can hold our heads high" said Butler.

Harrisburg was scheduled to travel to Mt. Vernon Saturday. No information on that game was submitted by the coaching staff.

Harrisburg will host Pinckneyville today (Tuesday) starting at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs close out the week Thursday at Anna-Jonesboro in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
