Tigers take down Gallatin Co. for GEC title

Fueled by 14 points from Corbin Fitch and another 12 points from Anthony Darge, Thompsonville led wire-to-wire in claiming a 49-35 victory for Gallatin County for the GEC Championship.

Thompsonville (21-2, 6-0) led 11-5 after one quarter and took a 22-13 lead into the locker room. The Tigers backed that up by outscoring Gallatin County 12-5 in the third period.

Gallatin County's Dawson Hish was the lone Hawk to finish in double figures.

Audie Goebel scored six points for Gallatin County, while Gunnar Wilson and Garrett Rushing each finished with five points. Robbie Prince had four points, while Lucas Reeder tacked on three points.

Grady Furlow netted nine for the Tigers in the win, while Peyton Roberts scored seven points and Tyson Kessler chipped in with six points. Trey Bybee tossed in a free throw.

FRIDAY

On Friday night at the GEC Tournament, Gallatin County knocked off Pope County 37-35.

Hish led the charge for the Hawks with a team-high 12 points. Prince netted nine points, while Goebel added eight points. Rushing chipped in with six points, while Wilson tossed in two points.

Carrier Mills was edged out by NCOE, falling 46-43

Caden Van Meter had 18 points for CMSF, while Aiden Rollins finished in double figures as well with 17 points. Z. Rollins finished with four points, while Colton Betz tacked on three points and Jeremy Choat tossed in a free throw.

THURSDAY

On Thursday night at the GEC Tournament, Crab Orchard knocked off Carrier Mills-Stonefort 64-59

Van Meter had a game-high 26 points for the Wildcats, while Betz and Reed each threw up three points. Mitchell, Choat and T. Rollins all had two points.
