Gallatin Co. gets by Galatia, will play Pope Co. in semifinals

A 32-point outburst by senior combo guard Audie Goebel was good enough for Gallatin County as they got past Galatia 64-58 Tuesday night in the Greater Egyptian Conference Tournament at SIC.

Robbie Prince also finished in double figures for Gallatin County with 10 points, while Garrett Rushing netted nine points. Gunner Wilson finished with five points, while Dawson Hish had four points. Michael Velez and Will Henson both tossed in two points for the Hawks in the win.

Braxton Lane had team-high 14 points for Galatia, while Dominic Ammon and Zane Carlile each chipped in with six points. A.J. Hankins and Trevor Hale both tacked on three points, while Cole Curry tossed in two points.

Earlier Tuesday night, Pope County edged Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 45-42.

Davis had a team-high 13 points for Pope County, while Eddington and Fasolo each netted nine points. Grider added eight points and Rison scored six points.

Joe Melton had a game-high 16 points for NCOE, while Brandon Skaggs finished with 14 points. Jack Riggs had four points, while Trey Simmons and Colton O'Neal each tacked on two points for the Cardinals.

On Monday night, Thompsonville, the No. 1 seed in the GEC Tournament, cruised by Carrier Mills-Stonefort 64-43.

Thompsonville got a game-high 23 points from Corbin Fitch, while Tyson Kessler dropped 14 points. Anthony Darge had 11 points for the Tigers, while Peyton Roberts netted nine and Grady Furlow finished with four points.

Colton Mitchell, Aiden Rollins and Trey Collins all had eight points for CMSF, while Jeremy Choat scored six points. Zach Rollins and Caden Van Meter each finished with four points, while Colton Betz tacked on two points.

In the first game Monday night, Hardin County clipped Crab Orchard 60-58.

Two games were played Thursday night with Carrier Galatia taking on NCOE at 6:30 p.m., followed by Carrier Mills vs. Crab Orchard at 8 p.m. The winner of both games will play in the Consolation Championship on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Gallatin County will play Pope County tonight (Friday), beginning at 7 p.m. Thompsonville then plays Hardin County at 8:30 p.m.

The winner of those two games will play for the GEC title on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The loser of those two games will play for third place on Saturday at 7 p.m.
