Eldorado uses big third quarter to get by Carrier Mills-Stonefort

Eldorado put three players in double figures, including a game-high 29 points from Joe Mayberry as the Eagles flew past Carrier Mills-Stonefort 78-48 Tuesday night at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.

Aiden Whitlock added 18 points for EHS, while Lyddayea Shewmaker scored 17 points as the Eagles improved to 8-2 overall.

Nolan Milligan scored six points for Eldorado, while Noah Smith finished with four points. Jace Jenkins and Townsend Barton each tacked on three points, while Hunter Sizemore and Bradley Boulds each had two points.

Caden Van Meter had a team-high 21 points for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, who fall to 2-8 on the season.

Aiden Rollins netted nine points for the Wildcats, while Rostin Lewis scored six points. Zavier Rollins, Nathaniel Reed and Colton Betz all tossed in three points. Rielly Ward had a field goal and Colton Mitchell threw in a free throw.

Carrier Mills played Eldorado close in the first quarter as the Eagles held a two-point, 12-10 advantage after one quarter. The two teams kept things interesting in the first half as EHS outscored the Wildcats 18-16 in the second quarter to take a 30-26 lead into the locker room, but Eldorado turned up the gas in the third period, outscoring CMSF 26-10 and led 56-36 going into the game's final eight minutes.

Eldorado played Hamilton County Thursday night and both teams head into the Christmas break preparing for the Eldorado Holiday Tournament, which starts next Thursday.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort will play No. 1 seeded Fairfield at 4:45 p.m., followed by Eldorado and Norris-City-Omaha-Enfield at 7 p.m. The EHT runs through next Saturday.
