PINCKNEYVILLE -- West Frankfort quarterback Connor Eaton scored three touchdowns and led the Redbirds to a 21-7 victory over Pinckneyville on Friday night.
Eaton scored on a 27-yard run with 3:34 left in the first quarter, but the score remained 6-0 until late in the third quarter.
Eaton took in a 2-yard score at the 3:26 mark of the third and also ran in the two-point conversion to give West Frankfort a 14-0 lead.
Pinckneyville got on the board when Darian Harris found paydirt from the 5-yard line and Ben Restoff kicked the extra point with 9:50 remaining, but the Panthers didn't score again.
Eaton broke it open with a 51-yard scamper with 1:46 left to extend the lead.
Pinckneyville quarterback Hunter Riggins rushed 21 times for 75 yards and also completed 12 of 27 passes for 95 yards with two interceptions.
Lucas Downard caught five of those completions for a total of 24 yards and rushed three times for 13 yards. Downard also had eight tackles on defense.
Harris had eight rushing attempts for 27 yards.
Chase Fulkerson carried the ball four times for 37 yards and had 10 tackles on defense. Stetson Lappin led the defense with 12 tackles.
Pinckneyville is now 1-1 and hosts Benton this Friday.
