Bearcats improve to 14-1 with five inning win over Eldorado

The Galatia-Thompsonville softball team improved to 14-1 on the season with a 11-1 win over Eldorado in 5 innings Friday.

Dani Reynolds picked up the win for the Bearcats, going four innings and allowing one run on one hit, while striking out seven. Jade Cottrell came on in relief and gave up one hit.

Reynolds' lone hit was a fourth inning home run by Paige Munds as Eldorado's only run of the game. Cottrell gave up a hit to Ali Joyner.

Joyner took the loss for the Eagles, going five innings and allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, while striking out two.

At the plate, Kennedy Harris paced G-T with a 2-for-3 performance that included two home runs and a team-high five RBI. Harris now has five home runs on the year. Cassi Cotter also had a home run, her first of the year, while going 2-for-3.

Emma Reagan was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI and Cottrell was 1-for-2.

The game was close at the onset as the two teams played a 1-0 game until the third inning when the Bearcats scored seven runs, two of which came off Harris' bomb. Harris second dinger scored three runs in the fourth.

Galatia-Thompsonville will play its home finale on Tuesday (today) starting at 4:30 p.m. against Vienna. The game is also Senior Day, where the Bearcats will honor Madison Murphy, Mallory Mays, Reynolds, Harris, Cotter and Reagan.
