Bulldogs' bats wake up in win over Benton

Harrisburg's bats came out of its slumber and the Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak with a 15-10 win at Benton last week.

Lexie Williams came up big for the Bulldogs with a pair of two-out hits, going 2-for-4 at the dish with a team-high five RBI in the win as Harrisburg improved to 9-4 overall and got their first SIRR Ohio win and are now 1-2 in league play.

Karsyn Davis was 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Essence Sanders was 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Hannah Reid was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Madeline Rider, Marshall and Jones were all had one hit. Rider knocked in a pair of runs as well.

Sanders got the win, coming on in relief of starter Maddy Ladd. Sanders allowed five earned runs on eight hits with a strikeout, while Ladd, who went 2 1/3 innings, allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits.

Galatia 4, Hamilton County 3

The Galatia-Thompsonville softball team improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Egyptian Conference with a 4-3 win over Hardin County late last week.

Dani Reynolds improved to 3-1 with a seven inning effort. Reynolds allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out five and walking two.

At the plate, Kennedy Harris and Leah Davis were both 2-for-4, while Harris scored two runs. Maddy Murphy went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

G-T got the win in dramatic fashion, holding on in the bottom of the seventh.

The Bearcats scored two runs in the first inning, followed by a run in the second and a run in the fifth.

Hardin County scored one run in the fourth, fifth and seventh inning.

The Cougars had the bases loaded with one out and G-T survived with a ground out to third for the second out and closed the game on a strikeout.
