Harrisburg wins 3 games over weekend

An offensive explosion saw the Harrisburg softball team score 35 runs over four games and went 3-1 over the weekend as Mother Nature's rain held off in time to get some much needed games in.

Harrisburg split a pair of games Friday, knocking off Eldorado 13-6 and falling to Woodlawn 12-7.

In the win over Eldorado, Essence Sanders picked up the win in the circle to improve to 7-2 on the year. Sanders went five innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Ali Joyner took the loss for Eldorado, facing 35 batters and allowing 13 runs on 16 hits with two strikeouts and eight walks.

At the plate, Harrisburg (8-2) was paced by Karsyn Davis' 4-4 day with four RBI. Hannah Reid and Sanders both went 3-for-5 as Sanders drove in two runs and Reid had an RBI. Maddy Ladd and Lexie Williams both had a pair of hits as Ladd finished with three RBI and Williams drove in one run. Madeline Rider finished 1-for-4 one the day.

Emma Wargel and Joiner both had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles, while Derian Corn was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In the loss to Woodlawn, Sanders took the loss, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits, while walking two. Ladd pitched the last two innings and fave up seven runs (five earned) on six hits with two walks.

Davis led Harrisburg at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, while MaKayla Payne was 3-for-3. Ladd went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Sanders was 1-for-3 with three RBI.

On Saturday, Harrisburg knocked off Union County 6-1, where Madeline Rider went 2-for-4, leading off the game with her first home run of the season and finishing with three RBI.

Sanders was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Mckenzie Marshall was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Davis, Ladd and Payne all had one hit.

Harrisburg also avenged an earlier loss in the year, beating Pope County 9-1 Saturday.

At the plate, Rider went yard again, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI. Sanders was 4-for-4 with an RBI, while Davis, Ladd and Marshall all had two hit says. Davis drove in two runs, while Reid and Hayley Sullivan both had a hit.
