Harrisburg takes two at CWCIT

On Saturday night, the Bulldogs put four players in double figures as Harrisburg beat Carmi-White County 66-58.

Isaiah Saulsberry led all scorers with 22 points, going 7-for-11 from the field and knocking down 5-of-6 free throws in the win.

Carson Burtis chipped in with 17 points on 2-of-5 shooting and 4-of-4 from the line, while Dalton Lambert had a team-high six rebounds and 12 points and Blake Drue finished with 11 points, knocking down 3-of-4 3-pointers and handing out a team-high six assists.

Jordan Bartok finished with four points for the Bulldogs.

Harrisburg led 15-13 after one quarter of play and never looked back, outscoring CWC 15-11 in the second quarter and 15-12 in the third period.

Earlier Saturday, Harrisburg eased by Edwards County 61-53 as Saulsberry had a game-high 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting and 5-of-6 from the line.

Drue also finished in double figures with 12 points, while Burins and Lambert each netted nine points. Bartok flipped in four points and Will Sanders tacked on two points.

Harrisburg trailed 17-8 after one quarter of play, but outscored the Lions 12-6 in the second quarter and came out of halftime, outscoring Edwards County 18-13.

On Friday night, Harrisburg was held off on a last second shot and fell to Mt. Carmel 61-60.

Saulsberry had a game-high 20 points, while Burtis tacked on 12 points and Drue finished with 10 points.

Lambert added eight points for the Bulldogs, while Sanders scored six. Will Gibbs and Bartok both had two points for Harrisburg.

After being outscored 20-16 in the first quarter, Harrisburg rallied to outscoring Mt. Carmel 11-7 in the second quarter and 22-18 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Aces outscored Harrisburg 16-11.

Harrisburg concludes play at the Carmi-White County Invitational Tournament tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. against Fairfield.

The Bulldogs will travel to West Frankfort Friday in the only other game of the week.
