Prep Volleyball: Harrisburg knocks off Patriots at home

The Harrisburg High School volleyball team moved into a tie with Murphysboro atop the SIRR Ohio standings after a three set victory over Massac County Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs won the first set, 25-19, dropped the second, 25-23 and won the final set 25-12 to improve to 17-6 overall and 5-1 in league play.

Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox called the win one where "confidence, control and purpose got it done tonight. With the exception of a couple points at the end of the 2nd set, I thought we controlled from start to finish."

Devin Butler had three aces to go along with one kill, 29 assist and nine digs, while Bryleigh Buchanan had nine kills, two blocks, three aces and 10 digs. Josie Drone had two kills and 20 digs, while Matty Hawkins had 11 kills, five blocks and three digs. McKenzi Holloway had 12 digs and Victoria Thai finished with five. Madeline Rider had an ace to go with seven kills and nine digs and Reagan Thompson added three kills and one block.

Harrisburg returns to action Monday at West Frankfort.
