Prep Golf: Benton, Nashville claim SIRR titles

At the Southern Illinois River-To-River Conference Golf Tournament Tuesday, Benton won the Ohio, while Nashville cruised to the Mississippi Division title.

The Rangers' 309, was better than a 324 by Herrin, who just edged out Massac County, who shot a 327. West Frankfort took fourth in the Ohio with a 336.

Harrisburg and Murphysboro competed as individuals with no team score.

On the Mississippi side, the Hornets shot a 341, followed by a 377 from Anna-Jonesboro, a 381 from Pinckneyville and a 416 from Sparta. Du Quoin and Carterville had no team score.

Benton's Brendan Luster, Herrin's Drew Ringle and Massac County's Brock Willmes all had the low score of the tournament as the three shot a 75.

Harrisburg was led by a 95 from Camden Schiff. The senior went out in 47 and followed up with a back nine 48.

Jaiver Beal (106) and Andrew Bittle (107) rounded out the scores for the Bulldogs.

The IHSA Regional will be played on October 3 at Hickory Ridge.
