Prep Golf: Buldogs, Eagles shine on golf course

Camden Schiff shot a 39 to finish third overall in a triangular match with Mt. Carmel and Metropolis Tuesday at Shawnee Hills Country Club.

The Bulldogs only played three golfers total, not enough to qualify as a team, but Javier Beal fired a 48 and Andrew Bittle carded a 55.

Massac County's Dakota Ball had the low round, firing a 34 for the Patriots, who fell to Mt. Carmel 158-162.

Mt. Carmel's Blake Golden shot a 35 for the Aces.

Eldorado starts

season 2-1

The Eldorado High School boys' golf team is off to a 2-1 start on the season after opening the year with a pair of victories over Hardin County and Norris City-Omaha-Enfield and the Eagles lost their first match to Fairfield in dual match Wednesday.

In the triangular match against Hardin County and NCOE, Eldorado fired a 168, as Hardin County (183) was second and NCOE (190) finished third.

Noah Smith took medalist honors with a 39 for Eldorado, while the Eagles got a 40 from Evan Coyle and a 42 from Braden Unthank. The final team score, a 47 from Ely Boulds, helped the Eagles to the 15-stroke win.

Kaiden Lloyd added a 51 for EHS, while Austin Willis finished with a 57.

In the Eagles' 161-182 loss to Fairfield on Wednesday, Smith shot a 37 and missed out on medalist honors by just one stroke as Fairfield's Maverick Conrad shot a 36.

Coyle carded a 45 for EHS, while Unthank added a 46. Boulds shot a 54, while Willis had a 56 and Lloyd finished with a 66.
