American Legion: Post 167 puts up third straight win

June 21 is always the first day of summer and is affectionally known as the longest day of the year.

The Harrisburg American Legion Post 167 made it a long day for McLeansboro, taking two games and improving to 3-1 in District 24 play with an 11-1 victory and a 12-2 win.

In the 11-1 Game 1 win, Jordan Gould picked up the win, tossing a one hitter over five innings and striking out six.

At the dish, Post 167 pounded out 12 hits as Dalton Lambert and Brody Walker both went yard.

Lambert finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Walker was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Walker drove in two and scored two runs.

Jordan Gould, Dylan Schwartz, Cameron Wendler, Dallas Reynolds, Justice Hill, Josh Turnage and Ethan Ashby all had one hit. Schwartz drove in two, while Reynolds and Hill both had one RBI.

Gould scored two runs, while Wendler, Hill, Turnage, Ashby and Carson Burtis all scored one run.

In the Game Two 12-2 win, Post 167 used the tag-team duo of Josh Turnage and Dylan Schwartz on the mound in the victory.

Trunage got the win, going three innings and allowing one run (unearned) on four hits, while striking out three. Schwartz struck out four over two innings and allowed one run on two hits with one walk.

At the dish, Harrisburg roped out seven hits as Kale Oglesby, Austin Stevens, Ben Byrd, Burtis, Reynolds, Lambert and Schwartz all had one hit.

Noah Mayer, Turnage and Schwartz all drove in two runs, while Sean Mondino, Reynolds and Stevens all had an RBI. Burtis, Byrd and Lambert each scored two runs, while Gould, Oglesby, Reynolds, Stevens, Mondino and Mayer all scored one run.

Harrisburg Post 167's game at Owensboro Thursday night was cancelled. Harrisburg will be at Mt. Vernon, Ind., Friday, before hosting Fairfield in a District 24 doubleheader Saturday, starting at 1:30 p.m. at Gibbs Field.
