Baseball: EHS bats light up against Vienna

Eldorado pounded out 13 hits in an 8-4 win over Vienna Wednesday afternoon on the road.<br />The Eagles used a trio of pitchers in the victory as Joe Mayberry picked up the win. Mayberry worked five innings, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out three and walking four.<br />Dalton White worked in relief of Mayberry, going 1.2 innings and allowing three runs on four hits, while Hunter Artman got the save.<br />At the plate, Ben Byrd and Mayberry each had three hits and both had a double as Mayberry drove in two from the lead off spot. Byrd had one RBI and scored a run.<br />Kale Oglesby and Payton Price each had two hits, while Price scored two runs and Oglesby added an RBI and a run scored.<br />Trey Vessel, Braden Unthank and Jacob Traxler all had one hit as Unthank and Traxler both had an RBI. Unthank scored a run, as did Max Kasiar, who also drove in a run.<br /><strong>Goreville 12, Eldorado 1</strong><br />On Monday, Goreville held Eldorado to just three hits in a 12-1 loss.<br />Mayberry, Sigler and Vessel each had a hit for the Eagles, while Vessel had the lone RBI, scoring Sigler in the bottom of the fourth inning.<br />Eldorado is scheduled to play at Massac County on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. to close out the regular season.<br />The Eagles will then open up the IHSA Class 2A Regional with a play-in game on Monday at Johnston City, starting at 4:30 p.m. The winner will take on Benton Wednesday, May 17, starting at 4 p.m. at Harrisburg's Jay Thompson Field.
