Soccer: Bulldogs pull off upset over Freeburg

The Harrisburg High School soccer team pulled off the upset as the No. 7 seed, knocking off No. 3 seeded Freeburg 3-2 in the IHSA Class 2A Regional Wednesday afternoon at Michael Herrin Field.<br />Home cooking may have just been what the Bulldogs needed Wednesday. Harrisburg drew first blood when Devin Butler found the back of the net early on and just moments later, Lauren McDaniel fired a laser that found the left part of the goal to put the Bulldogs up 2-0.<br />Later McDaniel's second goal of the day proved to be the difference in the win for Harrisburg.<br />Jenny Buchanan had an assist for the Bulldogs, while Butler had an assist as well.<br />Lexi Sirtak, despite giving up two goals, had 17 saves.<br />After Belleville Althoff's 5-0 shutout win over Massac County on Tuesday, Harrisburg will now face the Crusaders for the regional crown Friday at 4:30 p.m.
