Goodley girls stay in contention at OVC championships

The second day of the Ohio Valley Conference women's golf tournament saw the Goodley girls steady the ship and stay in contention.<br />Taylor Goodley shot a one under under 71 Tuesday at the Hampton Cove Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and is now six over after two days and is tied for 11th overall. Goodley jumped up 17 places after finishing her day tied for 28th after a 79 Monday.<br />The Austin Peay sophomore and Eldorado native had three birdies and just two bogeys on her scorecard and had the best score of the day for the Governors.<br />Ashton shot a six over 78 Tuesday and finds herself in a tie for 20th. She's at +11 for the tournament and had one birdie on her round to go with five bogeys and one double bogey.<br />Ashton, also a sophomore, had a 77 on Monday and as a team, APSU moved up one spot to No. 4 on Tuesday with a 310 on the day. <br />Murray State, Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State round out the top 3, respectively.<br /><br /><em>Michael Dann covers prep and college sports for the Harrisburg Daily Register and Eldorado Daily Journal.
