Baseball: Redbirds rally to beat Harrisburg

Harrisburg and West Frankfort passed the lead back-and-forth on Thursday, but eventually the Redbirds prevailed 10-7. <br />The game was tied at seven with WF batting in the top of the seventh when Christian Williams induced Dorris to hit into a fielder's choice, scoring the first of three more runs in the win.<br />Despite the loss, Harrisburg did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, West Frankfort had ten hits on the way to victory. <br />West Frankfort captured the lead in the first inning on Logan Elko's sac-fly scoring one run for Frankfort. <br />Harrisburg knotted the game up at seven in the bottom of the sixth inning. An error scored one run for the Bulldogs.<br />Johnson earned the win for Frankfort, throwing one and one-third innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and walking zero. <br />Christian Williams took the loss for Harrisburg, going two innings, allowing three runs, four hits, and striking out two. <br />Lindsey started the game for Frankfort. He pitched five and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs, 11 hits, and striking out four. <br />Carson Burtis started the game for the Bulldogs, throwing five innings, giving up seven runs, six hits, striking out two, and walking one. <br />Kent Cletcher, Presley Gauch, and Jack Martin each collected multiple hits for Harrisburg. Gauch and Cletcher all had three hits.<br />Harrisburg returns to action today at Massac County, slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.<br /><br /><strong>Crab Orchard 10, Eldorado 7</strong><br />Crab Orchard scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to come back and beat Eldorado 10-7 Friday.<br />Ben Byrd took the loss for the Eagles after coming on in relief of Braden Unthank. Byrd worked three innings, giving up five runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking four.<br />Unthank got the start and gave up five runs on seven hits, while striking out one and walking one.<br />Eldorado had six hits on the day as Bryson Sigler led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Joe Mayberry, Trey Vessel, Unthank and Byrd had the other hits. Vessel drove in three in the loss, while Byrd and Hunter Sizemore each had one RBI.&#160; Byrd scored three runs and Max Kasiar plated two, while Mayberry and Etienne each scored one run.<br />Eldorado is slated to play at Norris City-Omaha-Enfield today (Monday) at 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, EHS will play host to Edwards County with a return trip to the Lions scheduled for Thursday. Eldorado closes out the week at Gallatin County on Friday.
