High Expectations For Eagles

Go Big Or Go Home.
That's Valerie Hudgens' mindset as her Eldorado girls' track and field team season started Monday at Hamilton County.
If Hudgens has one goal or season expectation for the Eagles this year, she wants to have at least one team member place in every event they are in this year.
"Go big," Hudgens said. "I was excited for the turnout this year. We have several returning team members, as well as, several freshmen. They're all dedicated to this team and I couldn't be happier with the girls I've got."
Hudgens believes that her relay teams will be the bright spot for the Eagles in the spring.
"We have a great relay team this year and we are going to be versatile in the members that run different relays and they are all excellent runners. The one constant to the relays are our junior leaders, Kim Acheson and Emilie Farmer, both of which I expect to place in individual events as well. I expect to be very competitive."
Senior members on this year's team are Paula Williams, Kelsey Again, Mia Griffith and Suzanne Rubiuo. Joining Acheson and Farmer in the junior class are Jangle Bean. Two sophomores, Cameron Scates and Priscilla Branham, join the freshmen class that consist of Lauryn Hampton, Kyrsten Sizemore, Bayleigh Barton, Gabrielle Frymire, Chloe Hopkins and Kiara Borne.
Hudgens is in her second season as head coach of the EHS girls' track and field team, as well as, a 16-year teacher at the high school.

Michael Dann covers prep and college sports for the Harrisburg Daily Register and Eldorado Daily Journal.
