  • Hailey Cubb was one of four Gallatin County basketball players to score in double figures as the Hawks knocked off Galatia 76-24 Monday night in Greater Egyptian Conference action.
Chubb had a game-high 22 pints, while Harlie Turner finished with 14 points Caitlin Lynch tacked on 12 and Morgan Roderick netted 11 points for Gallatin County.
Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks were: Audrey Jackson (8), Valerie Ahrens (3) and Gracie Sauls (4).
Galatia got a pair of eight-point performances from Mallory Mays and Kennedy Harris, while Kelsi Watson chipped in with six points and Madison Murphy finished with four points.
For Denise Clayton, head coach for Galatia, knowing she held Chubb to 22 seemed like a victory in itself, seeing as how the sharp shooting juniors lit up the Bearcats a season ago for 43, 36 and 40 points.
Galatia is now 2-5 overall and will play next at Woodlawn (tonight) Wednesday. Gallatin County returns to the hardwood Friday at Pope County.
Union County, Ky. 63, Eldorado 57
It was a case of too little, too late as Eldorado fell 63-57 on the road Tuesday night in non-conference action.
Trailing 50-32 going into the game’s final eight minutes, Eldorado outscored the Braves 25-13, but couldn’t overcome the first half hole they dug, where they went into the locker room down 34-18.
Madison Newton had a team-high 16 points, while Takiya Britton also had double figures, finishing with 13.
Rachel Stafford netted nine for EHS, while Derian Corn scored seven. Paige Munds chipped in with six, Jade Hise finished with four and Madison Newton had two points.
