Prep Girls Hoops: Harrisburg falls on the road, Eldorado loses at home

Less than eight days removed from a 66-61 win over West Frankfort at their own Harrisburg Invitational, the Bulldog girls' basketball team fell on the road to the Redbirds 81-68 Tuesday night at Max Morris Gymnasium.

Morgan Griffith had a good night at the office, putting up 50 points on 11-of-25 shooting from the field and went 27-for-32 at the free throw line, handing Harrisburg its first loss of the season.

For Harrisburg, they put three players in double figures, including a team-high 23 points from Lotte Miller.

Miller went 6-for-15 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the line, while Jessica Hopson scored 17 points and Matty Hawkins tacked on 10 for the Bulldogs.

Rounding out the scoring for Harrisburg included seven points from Toni Crisp, six points from Madeline Rider, three points from Brooke Meylor and two points from Karsyn Davis.

Harrisburg returns to action Thursday night when they will host Du Quoin.

Gallatin County 80, Eldorado 69

At Duff-Kingston Gymnasium, Hailey Chubb scored a season-high 42 points, while teammate Caitlin Lynch scored 16 as Gallatin County escaped with a 80-69 road win over Eldorado.

Morgan Roderick was also in double figures, scoring 13 for the Hawks, while Audrey Jackson and Harlie Turner both finished with four points. States had a free throw for Gallatin County.

Takiya Britton had a season-high 34 points for Eldorado, while Paige Munds scored seven points.

Rachel Stafford and Zakiya Britton each had six points for the Eagles, while Olivia Parker and Madison Newton each finished with five points. Derian Corn had four points.

Gallatin County returns to action tonight (Wednesday) on the road at Hardin County, while Eldorado will be at Carmi-White County on Thursday.
