Prep Hoops: Chubb helps lead Indiana SWISH to Division National Championship

Gallatin County's Hailey Chubb was the second leading scorer for the Indiana Elite SWISH 16U girls team that went 35-12 this AAU season in nine events from April-May and then in July culminating in a 5-0 run at the end of the month to win the Adidas Uprising 3Stripe American Division National Championship in Atlanta defeating North Texas Strive Blue 61-39 in the finals.

Chubb averaged 9.1 points per game this summer, while pulling down 2.7 rebounds per game and coming up with 1.2 steals per game.

Michael Owen, head coach of the Indiana Elite team, said having Chubb, who averaged 31 points per game for the Hawks this past season and was the second on the team this summer showed true team unity and a desire to be a part of something bigger this summer.

"One might ask themselves how a girl that averaged over 31 points per game for her high school this past year could end up being the second leading scorer on her AAU team averaging only 9.1 points per game? Well the answer is simple, her AAU team is loaded with talent averaging 50.8 points per game over 47 games with the top five scorers averaging 10.4, 9.1, 8.7, 8.6 and 5.2 points per game respectively," Owen said. "The point being, Hailey and her teammates proved to the world they could play together as a team, share the ball like no other team I've ever coached and that culminated in a National Championship for Hailey and her teammates."
