Prep Girls Hoops: Harrisburg goes to 11-3 with win over Panters

In the absence of one of their most recent 1,000th point scorers, Harrisburg lived life without Alexa Burtis Monday night and her teammates stepped up to the occasion.

Kelsey Hobbs had a game-high 24 points for Harrisburg in a 44-25 win over Pinckneyville at the Herrin Tournament.

Bulldog head coach Jake Stewart said he was proud of the way his team executed on both ends of the floor.

"With Alexa out, we got to have other kids step up and tonight I thought they did that."

Matty Hawkins had another nine points for Harrisburg, while Lotte Miller finished with five, while Hannah Bartok banked in four points and Madeline Rider tacked on two points.

Harrisburg held Pinckneyville to just 20 percent shooting from the field as the Panthers went 9-of-44 in the loss. Pinckneyville was 5-for-17 from 3-point range and 2-of-8 from the foul stripe.
