Five questions with ... Audrey Vaughn of Harrisburg

Audrey Vaughn is a true animal lover and "chef at heart," who lives in Harrisburg with her family.

Q. Did you see a fireworks display this year?

Vaughn: My boyfriend and I went to see the display at the Fairgrounds near Harrisburg. It was the first time either of us have ever gone to see fireworks on the Fourth.

Q. Do you eat food off the grill on the Fourth or did you try something different?

Vaughn: Off the grill, as is the norm. I enjoyed a Boston Butt grilled to perfection. I'm not sure if any grilling alternatives could beat the taste of some good BBQ.

Q. Speaking of food, what do you think of the national hot dog eating contest where people consume 60 or 70 dogs in 10 minutes?

Vaughn: I'm equal parts impressed as I am mortified. I guess some people are right at home in the setting. Free food, right? As for me, I can do maybe 20 hot dogs in 10 minutes if I try really hard.

Q. Are there any other holiday traditions your family have regarding the Fourth?

Vaughn: All of our 4th festivities happen to be coincidental. There aren't any concrete traditions for us. I wouldn't mind starting some sort of tradition with my boyfriend though.

Q. Does the return of hot weather, mean more time in the water or less time outside for you?

Vaughn: Both if you really get down to it. I don't do it, but my boyfriend plans his entire week around the weather forecast. I, on the other hand, will only go outside when it's hot if I get to be in the water. Why suffer if you don't have to?
