Phyllis A. Hood

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Phyllis A. Hood, 75, of Yale, and former resident of Mattoon and Harrisburg, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at St. Anthony&#39;s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services were celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in the Yale Cemetery in Yale. Visitation was held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner&#39;s Hospital for Crippled children.

Phyllis was born on Jan. 11, 1936, in Harrisburg, the daughter of Woodrow and Sarah Bernice (Hawkins) Walters. She married Allan Hood and he preceded her in death in September 1994.

Phyllis was a homemaker and loving mother. She enjoyed painting.

Phyllis is survived by four children, Kathy (Kenny) Potts of Harrisburg, Cyndi O&#39;Malley of Newton, Robert Kemp of Lakeland, Fla. and David (Chris) Kemp of Yale; a brother, David Walters of North Port, Fla.; three sisters, Peggy Boyd of Harrisburg, Debbie Cooper of Ocala, Fla. and Wilma (Roy) Forwe of Ocala, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Don Walters and Jack Walters; and a sister, Mary Duncan.
