Seth D. 'Spare' Collins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Seth D. "Spare" Collins, 93, 65 College Road, Eldorado, died 4:58 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at Saline Care Center, Harrisburg.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with Aaron Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery with military rites. Visitation is noon to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1917, in Ridgway, Gallatin County to Blanche (Rister) and Conway Collins. On July 24, 1937, he married Una "Bill" (Davis) Collins, who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2001.

He served in the Army in World War II. As a young man, he worked at Ford and Chrysler in Detroit, Mich. In 1950, he became a herdsman for Archwood Farms in The Plains, Va., and had a national grand champion shorthorn bull. In 1958, he returned to Eldorado to work for his brother, who owned Collins&#39; Skelley.

He was a member of Star General Baptist Church and was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie (Dianne) Goodley of Eldorado; two grandsons, Greg (Robin) Goodley and Brad (Kim) Goodley; and four great-grandchildren, Ashton, Goodley, Taylor Goodley, Madison Goodley and Kourtney Malcom.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Collis and Ivan Collins.
