Nancy Sadler

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nancy Sadler, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away at her home at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010.

She was born March 9, 1920, in Herrin to Monroe and Ollie (Payne) Jackson. She married Kallie C. Sadler on April 21, 1943, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1993, on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Nancy left school in eighth grade to help support her family during the Depression. She worked at the cap factory in Carbondale. She later went back to school and obtained her high school diploma, and took some business courses. She worked for many years as the executive director of the Saline County Tuberculosis Association.

Nancy loved her church and was an active member, worker and teacher at the Pankeyville Baptist Church and then at the Harrisburg First Baptist Church. She loved Christmas, and always made it special for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the last few years she found joy and inspiration singing with the Oldies but Goodies Choir at the First Baptist Church.

Nancy is survived by her three children, Gary Sadler (Erika) of Fairview Heights, Karan Maxson (Joel) of Springfield and Steven Sadler (Tommie) of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Rexanna O&#39;Leary (Larry), Rebecca Bowers (Scott), Jeremy Sadler (Melissa) and Sarah Maxson; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Corder of Marion; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kallie; four sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg. The Rev. Chris Winkleman will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
