Wilma Droit, 86, 165 Ron Morse Drive, Apt. 34 (Brookstone Estates), Harrisburg, died 2:20 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at her residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Kenny Burns and the Rev. Dean Guye officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at the funeral home.
She was born in Carrier Mills on July 25, 1922, to Robert and Lizzie (Gee) Meler. On Sept. 19, 1941, she married Stanley Droit in Jackson, Mo., and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2006.
She was a member of Star General Baptist Church and served in the church nursery for 15 years. She was president of the missionary serving group at Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights.
She is survived by a son, Dennis (Pam) Droit of Belleville; a daughter, Carol (Paul) Hines of Eldorado; a brother, Siegel Meler of Carrier Mills; one sister, Evanell Williams of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Doug Hines of Harrisburg, Sherri Hines of Douglasville, Ga., Breann Droit of Belleville, Austin Droit of Belleville and Mallory Droit of Belleville.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Reba Brothers and Wanda Arnold.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Star Baptist Church building fund.
