Genevieve L. Nichols, 77, of Harrisburg, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Genevieve was born Nov. 12, 1931, in St. Ann, the daughter of Frank and Velma (Varvel) Dixon. She married Robert Nichols. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of the First Opportunity Baptist Church in Carrier Mills. She worked as a domestic housekeeper and waitress.
Survivors include two adopted daughters, Dawn Higgsby and Pauline Richardson; a special friend, Roger Tull of Harrisburg; and two brothers, Don Dixon of Pontiac and Bill Varvel of Terre Haute, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the First Opportunity Baptist Church in Carrier Mills and also at Duffy Funeral Home in Fairbury. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury.
