Jack V. "Jack the Baptist" Patrick, 84, of Carrier Mills, died 12:17 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. He was born April 15, 1924, in Urbana to Glenn and Nancy (Pruett) Patrick. On March 1, 1947, he married the former Thelma Charles, who survives in Carrier Mills. He was a Navy veteran. He was a retired farmer and former owner and operator of Patrick's Sunoco. He was a member of Harco Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary (Jan) Patrick of Galatia; three sisters, Anita, Shirley and Mary; two grandchildren, Gary Patrick Jr. of Harrisburg and Sherry (Dave) Aldridge of Eldorado; four great-grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Lloyd and Adam, Devin and Taylor Aldridge; and two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Kloey Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Elwin, Raymond, Bob, Dale, Kenneth and Harold; and three sisters, Margie, Norma and Elizabeth. In accordance to his wishes, his body was cremated. Memorial services were held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Harco Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Hughes officiating. The family prefers memorials to the Harco Baptist Church in his memory. Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is entrusted with the arrangements.
