Clara Evelyn Edwards, 92, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

She was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Eldorado. She was the daughter of John and Verna (Keasler) Hausser. On Sept. 3, 1950, she married Orval Edwards and he survives. A sister, Opal Hendrick of East Alton, also survives.

Other survivors include: children, Jack (Trudy) Fowler of Mt. Carmel, Kim (Mona) Edwards of Eldorado, Manianne (Vereal) Ellis of Enfield and Susan Edwards of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Dolly (Neale) Caffin, Matthew (Tricia) Fowler, Nathan (Lori) Fowler, Oliver, Tison, and Julia Rhine, Braxton and Colton Edwards; great-grandchildren, Lora and Logan Barker, Anna, Emily, Luke, Leah and Kate Fowler; and a great-great-grandchild, Layton Barker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Homemakers Extension and the Eldorado Garden Club. During her lifetime, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" (World War II), a telephone operator, secretary for Deering Coal Company, Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative and the United Methodist Church.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. The Rev Julie Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the Watson Funeral Home.
