Melba L. Tucker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Melba L. Tucker, 80, of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at the residence of her daughter in Harrisburg.

Melba was born to the late Walter and Emma (Tinel) Smith on Friday, May 11, 1928, in Muddy. Melba married Bertis Tucker on Dec. 4, 1950, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2002.

Melba was a founder and charter member of the Daystar Chapel Holiness Church of Harrisburg. She worked in the dietary department at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Melba is survived by a daughter, Deborah Hill and husband Orval of Harrisburg; stepson, Bill Tucker of Harrisburg; stepson, Bertis Ray Tucker of Gary, Ind.; sister, Hazel Moore and husband Tom of Hazelcrest; brother, Tom Smith of Hammond, Ind.; two grandchildren, Tammy Hill and Stacy Smith and husband Lowell; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Willis and Saleen Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bertis; stepson, Gary Tucker; four brothers, Harry Smith, Glen Smith, Bill Smith and Bob Smith; and two sisters, Cathrine Hawkins and Lola Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate and burial will follow in Ingram Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
