Clara Louella Blackman

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Clara Louella Blackman, 96, of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 9, 1914, in the Cottage Grove community to the late Pete T. and Lou (Berry) Baker. She married Charles Robert Blackman on Dec. 24, 1933, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1996.

For 25 years, she was an employee of the S.S. Kresge Company. She loved to cook, sew and take care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church.

Surviving family members include a daughter, Dorothy (Charles) Wall of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Kathy (Don) DeMario of Harrisburg and Greg (Vicki) Wall of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) DeMario, Blake DeMario and Kathryn Wall; a great-great-grandchild, Grant DeMario; sister, Helen Laur of Marion; and nieces, Rose Lee (Jim) Raley and Carole Rosenthal.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Lizzie Lane and Grace Thaxton; and a brother, Turner Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor&#39;s choice.
