Shirley Frances James Cody

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley Frances James Cody, 77, of Marion, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Marion Nursing and Rehab Center in Marion.

According to her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no services. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born Aug. 15, 1933, in McLeansboro, to Leslie James and Nola (Pierce) James.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Vicki Hatfield of East Peoria; son, Charles Hatfield of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Nola and Raye Mallicoat of Brimfield and Niccole and Todd Cornaghie of Marion; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cletus Hicks; and sisters, Shelby Hocking and Betty Campbell.

Shirley spent much of her youth in church and professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age at Brush Harbor Church east of McLeansboro.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to the staff of Heartland Regional Medical Center and Hospice for the care she received prior to her death.
