Ruth I. Asbell
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ruth I. Asbell, 92, Harrisburg, passed away at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1919, in Carrier Mills to the late Harry and Nora (Layman) Pankey. On Sept. 28, 1952, she married Marriel Asbell and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1999. Ruth worked at Walker's Cleaners as a press operator until her retirement. She was a member of the First Church of God in Harrisburg.
Surviving family members include her brother, Lloyd Pankey of Clinton, Mo.; a sister, Esther Hancock of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Howard Pankey, James Pankey, John Pankey and Walter Pankey; and one niece, Marieca Frailey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Dan Masters will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God.
