Mary Mildred Carter

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Mildred Carter, Eldorado, passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital with all her family by her side.

She was born on March 1, 1929, in Pope County to Conrad and Rhoda Neighbors. Mary married Rance Carter in 1946, who preceded her in death.

Mary owned and operated her own restaurant for many years. Then, later in life, she worked for the Golden Circle Home Care, where she retired in 1990.

She was the best mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all.

She is survived by seven children, Carolyn Carter, Steve Carter, Donna Dees and husband Kenneth, all of Eldorado, Robin Carter of Maryland, Earl Carter and wife Karen of Princeton, Ind., Danny Carter and wife Linda of Eldorado and Lloyd Carter of Princeton, Ind. She is also survived by one sister, Linda May of Iowa and Bill Neighbors and wife Mary of Harrisburg. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, John Neighbors.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Lloyd Whittaker officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
