Jeff Johns of Harrisburg

Jeff Johns, 62, passed away peacefully in Evansville, Indiana on June 20 following a sudden illness.

Jeff was born in Harrisburg on June 2, 1958 to Tommie and Colleen Johns. He grew up on Baker Street and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1976.

He later became a welder and worked for several years at Townley Manufacturing.

Jeff enjoyed the outdoors. He grew up fishing, shooting guns, ATV riding and hiking the canyon at the Johns family deer camp - "The Cabin." He became an avid, competitive pool player. He spent many years riding his Harley-Davidson with his son and their friends, attending several motorcycle rallies, poker runs and leisurely rides.

He loved his mother Colleen with all his heart and was highly devoted to her (and their dog, Pepper), rarely missing a day to spend time with them. He was also very dedicated to his three granddaughters, who referred to him as "Papa Johns." In more recent years, he enjoyed watching "his girls" spend time at "The Cabin" as well, teaching and watching them to fish, shoot, ride and play checkers.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Colleen Johns of Harrisburg; his son, Jeremy (Shawna) Johns of Morganfield, Kentucky and their three daughters, Annaclaire, Jerra and Mia; and a sister, Linda (David) Adams of Batesville, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tommie Johns.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Mike Cummins officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home.

The family is requesting any monetary donations be made to John Paul II Catholic School in Morganfield, Kentucky, where his granddaughters attend.
