Ruby Mae Kujawa of Du Quoin

Ruby Mae Kujawa, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:26 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Du Quoin.

Ruby was a CNA at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin. She also was a volunteer at Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin. Ruby was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville and attended Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.

She was born Dec. 20, 1937 at Uniontown, Kentucky, the daughter of Raymond and Pearl (Girten) French.

Ruby married Lester D. Kujawa on Nov. 25, 1994 at Paducah, Kentucky, and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; six children, Cheryl (Tom) Trigg of Tamaroa, Mike (Peggy) Ratajczyk of Du Bois, Laura (Greg) Shopinski of Ashley, Randy (Dawn) Ratajczyk of Du Bois, David (Rhonda) Ratajczyk of Sesser and Samantha (Jim) Pulley of West Frankfort; seven siblings, Bill French, Rita McBride, Faye Steeval, Buddy French, Tommy French, Carolyn Morgan and Barry French; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Private family graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville, with Bro. Mark Lee officiating.

Friends are invited to make memorials in Ruby's memory to the St. Louis Children's Hospital; they will be accepted at the funeral home.
