Edward E. Forgas of Chester

Edward E. Forgas, 81, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:46 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

He was born to the late Paul and Helen (nee Cory) Forgas on June 30, 1938 in Springfield, Illinois.

Edward married Linda K. Halcom on Nov. 16, 1957 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2019.

Edward was the assistant technical director for Gilster Mary-Lee Corp. for 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester; he was a 3rd Degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus #3790 in Chester.

Edward was also a member of the Eagles Club Aerie #3252 and the Institute of Food Technologists.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Richard) Huey of Chester and Elizabeth Kayser of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Corie, Michael, Christina and Jack; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Payton, Arieanna, Shaelin, Rhylann, Roselene and Anna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Keith Forgas; two brothers, Paul Michael and James Andrew; and three sisters, Carol Louise Besjak, Judie Susan Riech and Alice Ann Petrilli.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, officiated by the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the Mass, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic School, Chester.
