Alpha Flint of Mulkeytown

Alpha C. Flint, 67, of Mulkeytown, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 at her residence.

Alpha was a homemaker. She was a nondenominational Christian. Alpha enjoyed camping, collecting antiques and traveling. She loved her grandchildren. Most of all, Alpha had a love for God.

Alpha was born Aug. 18, 1952 in Rineyville, Kentucky, the daughter of Marcus and Martha (Croan) McCaughn.

She married Alan F. Flint on July 2, 1970 in West Frankfort, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2016.

Alpha is survived by four daughters, Annette (Tom) Raetz of Warrenton, Missouri, Channa (Howard) Baxter of Du Quoin, Amanda (David) Sarver of Payson, and Alana (Jeff) Pierson of Roodhouse; two sisters, Bonnie (Robert) Mynear of Danville, Kentucky and Erma (Ron) Ekin of Moline; one brother, Harold "Lanny" Smith, and wife, Adele, of Carlyle; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Raetz, Marissa Raetz, Hannah Baxter, Jacquelyn (Craig) Donohoo, Tristan Sarver, Madelyn Pierson, Connor Baxter, Kate Pierson, Cleo Sarver, Lane Harmon and Caleb Harmon; one great-grandchild, Liam Donohoo; and dear friends for years, Doris and Alvin Loyd.

Alpha was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Greg Willert, Scott Potter and Jeff Thayer officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, also at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the family, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
